L1A to H1B status change

Hello,

I have filed H1 blanket petition thru a consultancy this year 2016 when I was in India. During the same time my present company also filed L1A blanket petition and I got the Visa. When I was in India my H1B petition also got approved. After that I entered united status with L1 status. Now if I want to work on H1B what is the process? Do I need to go back to India to get H1B stamped or my consultancy can file status change here itself is enough? Please clarify.

Changing status would mean refiling the H1 petition. Leave and return with the visa and then join them.
