Passport Renewal in the US (H1-B Out of Status)

I'm technically out-of-status currently but my new employer is filing for a new H1-B petition. I'm going to India for consular processing in 2 weeks' time. 

Meanwhile, I want to renew my passport before I travel, under the Premium Processing/Tatkal option. Any advice on renewing my passport here? Would the fact that I'm out-of-status in the US be a problem?

Hi, If you are not maintaining legal status in US while staying in US, it would be a serious problem. On exit form US they would record this and in future for stamping this will create an issue as it shows you are not following their rules and USCIS is strict about rules.
