Question regarding 6 month validity rule

Hi,

My parents came to US for a tourist visa on July 2016 from India(Indian passport holder). Now they are going back on December 15. The issue is that my mother passport will be less than 6 month validity i.e 5 month 15 days left on December 15. I have seen some article on internet that this can cause issue because you require passport more than 6 month valid to travel. 

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

6 month passport validity  is only required for getting US visa at consulate. I-94 validity  should be sufficient for exiting US lawfully.
