SSN for L2 - child

Hi,

I hold L1B visa and I have SSN. My son was born in India. Couple of questions:

1) Is it required that I apply for SSN for my child for tax purposes?

2) If SSN is not required, do I have to get something like an ITIN for tax purposes? What documents do I need?

Please advise.

A child on L2 can't get an SSN. For tax filings, you need to get an ITIN for the child.
