fangsz Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 hi, I applied for a position with UN and they have called me for an interview. I am currently on H1 visa , I-140 approved from oct' 2015. Will a intergovernmental agency have to do H1 transfer and PERM process similar to other companies and how does it work? Are there any advantages of working for them, in terms of no cap etc? Would appreciate your feedback so I can discuss my visa with them at the interview. thank you
JoeF Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 The G-1 visa is used for employees of international organizations like the UN.
pontevecchio Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 ", all non-United States citizens must have a valid passport issued by their national authorities. Before starting work, all candidates recruited for posts in the General Service category at Headquarters, who do not have a United States passport or permanent resident visa, must have their visa status changed to the one issued to staff members of international organizations." H1 etc. have no connection to the UN.
