knilesh26 Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 I have a H1 visa and is expiring in Jan 17. I m planning to visit canada (vancouver) and get it converted to H4. 1. can H4 stamping be done at canada (vancouver) consulate? 2. Is it recommended? my spouse has I140 approved.

Can it be done in Vancouver? ---- Yes, I did it last year 2. Is it recommended? ---- There is no straightforward yes or no answer for your question. There is always a risk in consular processing, no matter which consulate it is. If it is a consulate you are going as a third country national there is just that extra hassle of having to wait (or) go back to home country if ever a case is in Admin processing. Otherwise it has to be assumed that all consulates carry the same risk, it's just a myth that one consulate is better than the other.
