chry
Hello! I'm on H1-B. October 7, 2016 was my last working day. I was given a notice about my lay-off on September 19, 2016. I interviewed with a few companies for a full-time position, but, I didn't hear back. I'm not on payroll from October 10, 2016. Apart from finding another employer asap, what are all the options I have and which among them is the best and safe? Thanks! Link to comment
pontevecchio
Apply for a COS to B2 stating you need time for a new sponsor and that you have the finances with proof and will leave in say 3-4 months if no joy and apply tomorrow. This gives you a few months to get a new sponsor. If you get one LEAVE and return with the visa. Link to comment
JoeF
First off, your employer has to pay for your travel back to your home country, if you wish to go back. Second, if you want to stay, why haven't you filed a COS to another status, like B2, yet? You are out of status from the day of layoff on. Link to comment
