Gm12 Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 First of all I would like to thank all the users who had posted their expereinces, ALOT of useful information and details about the whole process which made it easier to go to Matamoros Mexico for H-1B stamping. Case Type: H-1B Extension [First Stamping done and expired; new H-1B approved and already started but was not stamped] Mexico Tourist Visa is highly recommended, it is easy to get it in 2 weeks. 7 day permit at border has restrictions that you can't fly to/from Matamoros Mexico or Mexico City. You can easily fly to Brownsville, TX or Houston, TX and drive to Brownsville, if flying book one way ticket for flexibility. Highly recommend Salvador Service, could not have done it without him. Very helpful and stress/worry free experience. Please reach out to him prior to your arrival and make a booking. There were 12-15 people he had on his schedule when I went so to avoid delay call him before. https://mexicovisaservice.appspot.com/ Coordinate with Salvador for pick up from Brownsville, Tx based on your arrival. He will take you to the hotel. Hotel is safe with friendly staff, has wifi and overall good. Food is ok, he is working to add some Indian food but you can always ask him and cook yourself in the kitchen or order Domino's pizza from mexico or ask him to pick something from Brownsville, Tx if he is going there. Did not go out much as this city is not tourist place and recommend to stay in the hotel. He will take you to ASC appointment. You can wear jeans/casual dress there for picture and fingerprints which is 15 minutes job at max. on day one. Next day he will drop you at US Consulate for interview across the street, you can walk up to US Consulate. Do not carry anything other than your documents. They will review your DS-160 confirmation and Passport and assign the group. You then sit and wait till you are called and then clear security check and wait inside based on your group to be interviewed. VO asked Basic questions - Employer, Salary, Job Location, Job Description, W-2, I-140 approval, Tax return and current address Visa approved, can collect passport same day at 3pm or next day at 3pm Most of the people did get it same day and few due to printing issue got it next day so having flexible ticket or book return ticket after getting passport back is better. Salvador will take you for passport pick up and then drop at border inside Mexico. There is walking path till CBP post and then the wait or line begins which can take up to 4 hours to get I-94 as there is a huge rush of locales who have to get into US and it is a very slow process. Best would be to have Mexico tourist visa and fly to Mexico city from Matamoros and from Mexico city into US there are a lot of cheap flights and I-94 process at airport is much faster.
