H1B activation

Hi all,

I was laid off from company A and the next day I got an offer from company B. My last paycheck from company A was on July 7th. Company B applied for H1 transfer on July 26th and my H1 is approved. Company B attorneys suggest I have to travel and re-enter the country to activate my H1B. Is that really necessary?

My recently approved I-797 has updated I-94 in it. Isn't that enough to start my work with company B?

Appreciate any help in this

Thanks,

Harish
