Well, the economy has picked up. Unemployment is at the lowest level in 4 years.

I also think lots of people who filed are on OPT and OPT STEM extension.

In any case, if they increase the H1 quota, as some legislation proposes, they also need to increase the GC quotas, otherwise, the GC delays would grow even larger.

Also, the USCIS 'spooked' a lot of employers when they stated toward the end of March that there maybe enough H-1B petitions submitted in the first 5 days to trigger the lottery selection. In response to that statement employers rushed applications out to get them into the lottery. In other words, the USCIS statement became a self fulfilling prophesy.

Yes, it is unbelievable to me.

This means 124,000 new fulltime jobs available from Oct 2st in USA !!

thats not entirely true..most of them are filed by indian consulting firms from india, where they are already on FT...the very few are from the real product based companies here in the US..but even they wouldnt want to apply for H1B now and want their employees to start from Oct 1st...so the remaining would be the shady desi consulting companies who normally takes money from the candidates and then would file for their H1b...remember not everybody comes and posts their experience on this forum.
