Prabo
My perm application is being processed. I wish to travel to India for a longer duration, around 8-10 months. My employer is willing to allow me to go back to India, and resume work in the US after 10 months. I have a valid H1 stamped until 2017, so that is not an issue. My employer suggested that I should atleast wait until my I-140 is filed. Also, he warned that I might land in trouble when my I485 is applied. This travel history could be a reason for turning down the GC. What is the better option over here? Can I travel to India for 8-10 months without affecting my perm process? If yes, when should I leave? If no, what is a better alternative? Thanks! Link to comment
jairichi
Your employer is extremely paranoid. Your travel or long stay outside US has no effect on ongoing GC process. Link to comment
Prabo
I missed out writing there that I won't be on my employer's payroll for that 10 months. I don't think that will make a difference, but just wanted to clarify! Link to comment
