Withdraw GC

Hi,

 

My friend moved to India 5 years back and initiated the cancellation of green card application.

At the time of cancellation, he had EAD card issued. 

The process followed to withdraw the application by the attorney was to send a letter to US Dept of Homeland Security asking to withdraw the application, along with the copy of the receipts.

 

It's been close to 3 months since the document was sent but yet the status shows as 'pending' online. 

UPS tracking shows it was rightly delivered. 

 

He wanted to know how long does it take to cancel the application and update the status.

 

Now, that his wife has to visit US on a business trip, she needs to go to the consulate in chennai for the B1/B2 visa. They are worried that since the cancellation is not yet updated, it might affect her visa interview. 

She plans to take the attorney's letter that was sent to the USCIS to withdraw the application and to the ups proof of delivery. 

 

Please advice.
