Is H1B stamping compulsion after Change of Status

Hi,

 

I had changed my status from F1 to H1 on October 2013 in US itself. I had not travelled to India after I changed my status Is H1B stamping a compulsion after change of status? or Can I stay on US until I get a Green card

As long as COS was approved with I797 having a valid I94 there is no need for stamping.

No need of Visa stamp to stay in US. Just approval is fine.

you don't need stamping as long as you don't leave the country. But if you leave the country, you should have stamping to come back to USA.

If your COS was successful...i.e., if you have received I-797 A then u r good stay...if you have received I-797 B then u need to go for stamping

Yes. You can stay in US as long as you want. You need stamping only if you leave the country and want to come back.

You will need a visa for travel.

If you travel out of the country after change of status..you have to appear for a visa interview...you can always stay in US on a legal status
