Appointment date with old I797

Hello All,

I didn't get my H1B ammendment and extension yet. So I don't have the new receipt yet.

My existing I797 expires in 9/30/2015.

Can I book an appointment with old I797, I may get new approval in a week or 10 days.

Can I chnage it to new I797 after booking a slot in India.

I have to attend visa interview in Jan.

Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, new H1-B approval and also need to be  update done to DS-160 and H1-Appointment .
