Getting OPT

Hi,

I am currently doing MS on H4 visa and have applied a F1 for the last semester to get OPT. However, i have not received my F1 in time before the start of my semester. My college advised that it is OK to do few days of my Semester H4 then change it to F1 and that i will still get OPT.

But i am not sure if this will work and if will get OPT. My other option is to drop this semester and complete my MS in the next semester, when i would have received my F1. But i want this as a last resort

I need your advise regarding the same.

Your DSO is the proper person to assist you with this decision

Its OK to get F1 in the middle of semester. You need to get it before you file OPT
