Mohitrathi
I have filed asylum last year and i missed my first two appointments due to medical reasons. Now I have my appointment scheduled with the immigration judge next month. I now planning to get married here with a gc holder(she got gc one year back from her company). My question here is: 1). What status will i be on when I get marries to gc holder. Will I get the GC immediately and also the work permit. 2) Do I need to file the change of Status. 3) What will happen to my asylum application. Please put some light on these as I am not getting a clear picture of my case. Thanks Mohit Link to comment

Joe.F
Once you are married, your spouse could file an I-130. But there are quotas for spouses of Permanent Residents, currently 4-5 years back. Only when the Priority Date is current, then you could file an I-485 and EAD. Link to comment
Mohitrathi
Thanks for the reply, so you mean I will have to wait for lets say 4-5 yrs till my date comes and till then I won't be able to work. In that case In next 2 yrs she will get citizenship I guess And till that time what will be my status? Again many thanks for suggestions. Link to comment
