H4 to F1 COS (different universities)

Hello,

My wife is on H4 since Aug. 2012 and has been studying since then for an online Masters degree (MS in Information Systems) from an regionally accredited university in a different state. She'll be graduating this May, i.e. May 2013.

The question is that if she now applies for another Masters (MS in Computer Science) on F-1 (change of status) in Fall 2013 with a different university, in the same city(meaning that she'll be physically attending the classes), will she be eligible for a CPT from the first semester?

In other words, does the time spent studying on H-4 full-time count towards the 9-month (or 2 academic semester) requirement for CPT even if the universities are different?

Thanks in advance for all the help and feedback.

CPT is part of F1 program not for H4.

To be eligible for CPT, an F1 student has be full time student for one yr .

Sigh.

Forget CPT. Cut that acronym out of your vocabulary. Abuse of CPT is a sure way to kill the career in the US.

An F1 is not for working.

No real university will give somebody CPT just so. That is NOT how things work.

Again, forget CPT.

If she wants to study, she should concentrate on studying, not working.

Geez. Have you not heard what happened with "students" of TVU, ****, *******???

Again, forget CPT. It is DEAD!
