Crybaby
I have a question that I need to ask as my sister marriage is involved in this. My sister and cousin got engaged. My cousin is on H1B and he is hopeful that he will get get green card this December. My cousin don't want to come to our home country due to risk factors of stamping. My cousin wants my sister to visit USA on visitor visa so they can both get married so he can also file my sister name for green card so both can get green cards together. Is it possible my sister come on visitor visa and get married in court. Later she will return back to our home country and apply for H4 stamping. What are the risks involved in this? Pls help me in this as me and my family are worried whether this is the right step or we dont have to do this. Link to comment
Attorney_23
This may be possible; however, keep in mind that marriage to a close cousin is prohibited in certain states in the U.S. So, prior to planning the wedding, make sure to check the state laws, especially if they are first cousins.
