Working before LCA approval

Hi,

I would like to know if I can work before the start dates mentioned in the LCA. I was with Company A till April and the new employer Company B has applied for LCA only from Jun 1. Though I am doing some reading and voluntary work for Company B, can they count me as an employee in May (the LCA start date is only Jun 1). Reason I am asking is, I do not want to see any break in employment in the month of may.

Please reply at the earliest.
