Detecting a DDoS is nothing that would justify an NIW. DDoS attacks are a dime a dozen nowadays.

If you had a PhD in cyber security stuff, or written books about cyber security, then you could qualify for an NIW.

The new trend is SWATting, btw. If you are in the security community, you may have heard about the simultaneous DDoS and SWATting that affected well-known cyber security blogger Brian Krebs.
