canada visit visa processing time new york

HI guys.

can you please share your experiences of processing time for canada visit visa in new york, after january 7th , since the rules has been changed in canada consulate, even if we submit in person they are replying by mail. processing times are same now in person or by mail.

canada consulate new york has received my application of feb 21st 2013 and still i din't received my passport , and i have my h1b interview scheduled @ OTTAWA on march 19th 2013. so iam desperately waiting for the passport, and checking usps tracking updates every day though its very frustrating.

any processing time experiences are welcome, as other in the same boat will get an idea of processing time for visit visa applicaton in new york. if you guys can share your processing times for visit visa in new york can be helpful so get an rough estimate.

I applied for Canada visa in New York on Feb 12th. I'm still waiting to hear back. I'm also desperately waiting till now. I checked quite a few people. They said they received with in 2 weeks. Do they respond to mails? Any idea? There is no contact number.

For me, it took 19 working days in total to get my passport back with stamping. Applied Feb 11th in person at NYC and got the passport back on March 9th.

@h1bhunter: Not yet. I'm worried. I've just sent a mail to the Consulate. Waiting for the response. Did you send a return envelope?

@Guy_H1B: Did you give them a return envelope? Did the tracking number get updated? I'm checking the tracking number everyday multiple times. No updates yet.

@qwerty: You may not need to send the original I797. Copy should be enough I believe. Paystubs are required.

@sunspark : Yes, I did give the return envelope (express mail properly stamped). I was also tracking the package everyday after 14 working days and one fine day (19th day) it got updated and next day afternoon postman handed it over to me.

@qwerty : Copy of I797 is just fine. They even return it back to you along with the passport.

NY center takes time. Processing time is 30 working days it seems. I received it yesterday 35 calendar days and 20+ working day for me. Just track with your USPS id. It gets updated. You'll get it for sure.

I have submitted my documents personally on March 18th at NY. Didn't received the passports. Is there any possibility o request them personally again? Wiil that work

@Skyline100... Do you have any updates from the NY consulate? I have applied through traveldocs agency [in person] on March 15th and have no updates as of today...I have already booked the air tickets starting next week 04/24 and have no idea I will receive by that time.
