Travelling when EAD/AP extension is in process

H1 and H4 extension approved and received new I-94 , 1st week of March 2013.

In the mean time filed for the extension of EAD/AP, March 1st 2013.

My wife need to travel to India before end of March, planning to come back couple of months later after receipt of AP, Is it advaisable to travel when EAD/AP extension request has been filed?

Heard some feeds that travelling when AP application is pending could impact I-485 status - abondonment?

Please let us know if anyone has come across any such issues as we have to hand over our current I-94 when we go out of the country.
