Real universities have application deadlines.

It takes several months to get admission to a real university.

Forget trying to change to F1. That's NOT going to work.

Hi , I was also laid of at similar time in March of 2013 while on H1B. I came back to my home country. I am planning to go back on F1 and then look for an H1 sponsoring job. I stayed 29 days after I was laid off. Should it be a problem to get an F1 approval. I know my brother was also laid off and he stayed for 29 days and he was as able to secure a visa back again.
