case not found while tracking i140

Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.

my attorney gave a case number starting LIN. when i try to track it online on uscis website, its giving the above message.

its more than a month now.

is this common???

USCIS receipt numbers do produce error messages online using My Case Status, from time to time. One may be able to verify the status of the petition by calling the National Customer Service Center to find out the status from USCIS.
