URGENT: Waiting since June 2012

Mine is Employer-Client model. Went to Hyderabad Consulate:

June 26, 2012 : I went for my H1B visa stamping where I was given 221g white slip.

July 2, 2012: Requested documents were submitted.

July 25, 2012: Was asked to submit my passport and submitted on July 25th.

Have been waiting since then, I don't know why its taking so long, I've emailed them, they responded saying its still undergoing processing, now no one's responding, don't know what else I need to do.

Can I request my passport back?

I cannot even work remotely. What do people usually do in such cases when stuck, do they search for jobs in India?

What options do I have?

@Disturbia : If possible please request your client to contact Consulate asking for your Visa status update, which might help to get an update. Meanwhile check with DOS on your status, Here is the DOS number if you want to call.

Thanks, I called DOS, they gave the same status- its under admin processing. I don't know why its taking so much time.

Is it true that if the attorney faxes the Consulate regarding 221g, it would help push the case further?

I also read it on some forums, if AILA sends emails for status they will respond with accurate status.
