I have an appointment on sep24th , but i have to resubmit my ds-160 form , how should i do that and update the Visa confirmation letter, Please advice.

If i use the retrive application option on ds160 form and if i use the same data except few changes required?does it generate new application id ?when changed ,does this effect the Visa confirmation letter,do i still have the same date active ? as it still carries old application ds160 form id?
