can i work after OPT expired and AOS pending ( with EAD application)

Hi..

I have a confusion here ..

I am getting married next month to US citizen..currently i am on OPT which is expiring on sept. 28,2011...I do have an opportunity to apply for STEM OPT extension

since i am going to apply for AOS application with EAD i am thinking not to apply for OPT extension.

But the question is ..is it possible if i can work while AOS & EAD application pending with current OPT expired. I know there is rule for OPT student that if his OPT extension application is pending and current OPT is expired he has 180 days work authorization....does the same rule applies for OPT to EAD( through AOS) transition..Please let me know ..Your help will be appreciated ..
