Want someone to explain green card process

Dear Friends,

I have been here working as a post doc in Science in a national laboratory since 11/08 on H1B.

Recently I got a permanent job in a National Laboratory and will be joining in next couple of weeks once H1 transfer is approved.

New employer is also sponsoring my GC, we had talked with their law firm and I submiited the forms and they will start processing in about A week.

So how the process evolves or how long is the process ? I dont know about catagory, they said PERM with 2nd preference.

If you are a Post Doc, I assume you know how to use Google. Please do so. THere is lots and lots of information about this out there on the Internet.

Check out the USCIS site on the details of GC..

but long story short.

Once your PERM approves, they will file your I-140 under EB2 Category..which is normally faster than EB3..Once EB2 approves and your PD is current you can file for I-485 and under approval you will get GC..
