Urgent - Need steps to get h1b stamping from Canada(Ottawa)

Hi All,

I have to get my h1b stamping done asap from US embassy in Ottawa Canada. If would be great if you can provide details of getting canadian visitor visa and taking US visa appointments for h1b stamping. Information like sites and forms needed for this would be really helpful. Thank you all for the great support. This Forum helps many of us and I'll provide my feedback too.

You need to get a Canadian visit visa first(either through mail or in-person). This is the procedure for booking an appointment in Canada:

Fill out DS 160:

1) Go to https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/

2) Select any Consulate in Canada and start filling the DS 160 Application (If you pick a different consulate later, you will need to fill out a new DS 160 form from this website)

3) Complete the first page, and Save your Application,.(This can be completed before your Visa date)

4) Note the Application ID, which is Displayed on the top. - This is required to book a Visa Slot initially.

Fee Payment $150:

1) Go to http://usvisa-info.c...country_welcome

2) Click Log in on the Top, and answer NO to the Question that pops out.

3) Create an Account with all your details

4) Log in to your Account after creating the User Credentials.

5) Pay the Fee using Credit Card.

Book an Appointment:

1) Log in to your account on http://usvisa-info.c...country_welcome

2) Enter the DS 160 Appointment ID, to continue and choose the dates.

3) Select a Consulate and search for the dates.

4) If you confirm the appointment in a different consulate, you will need to enter a new DS 160, specific to that consulate and update the Application ID on your account from the same log in.

5) Book an appointment with some Application ID as the required Dates are tough to get, and change the ID later as per the consulate.

Hello,

The Canadian embassy in DC does not accept applications for Visitor Visa (TVV) anymore. You have to either go in person or mail to the other Consulates. The NY Canadian Consulate site states that there is atleast 30 days wait for TVV. Its been two weeks since I submitted my documents to them and have not received any response. I recommend to attend in person to avoid any unwanted delays. For the Canadian visa application, please refer to the specific consulate site.

• What happens to my DS-160 if I select a U.S. Embassy or Consulate where I will be applying for my visa, but end up making an interview appointment instead at another U.S. Embassy or Consulate?
  

The Embassy or Consulate at which you actually apply should be able to access your form using the barcode on your DS-160 confirmation page, which you must bring to the visa interview. For example, a business traveler intends to apply for his visa at the U.S. Embassy in City X, so he selects City X as the location where he will submit his application when he completes his DS-160. He then has an urgent reason to travel to City Y on business. Because there is a U.S. Consulate in City Y, he schedules an appointment for a visa interview there, using the barcode from his completed DS-160 application for appointment scheduling. The U.S. Consulate in City Y is able to accept his DS-160 even though it lists the U.S. Embassy in City X as the location where he originally intended to submit his application.

As per my knowledge don't need to pay the fee again.

Just update the application ID after log in.

Just be aware that the Canadian consulate in NY took about two weeks to process my temporary visitor visa.

One thing I forgot to ask you..Do we have to send paid return envelop too so they can return passport to us in that ?...I went to Canada and Bahama in the past and I remember doing this for one of them. Thanks.

I just want to update you that i have received my passport, it took 32 calendar days. I have sent my application to New York through MAIL with PAID return envelop from USPS.
