L to H Conversion Travel during COS Pending Status

I really appreciate if you could answer my query.

I am currently in US with L1B Visa and my VISA will get expired on 03 March 2013. My current employer applied for L to H conversion last week for the same client .My marriage date got fixed now and i have to travel India in July-Aug for my marriage and will not be present in US for an month during the L to H VISA conversion process. I understand that my change of status will be abandoned if I am not present in US. What can be done now to address this situation?

1) Do i need to stay back in India and get my H1 Visa approved and stamped , travel after Oct 01 2012?

Assuming the H1 petition is approved you can get the H1 visa and come back up to 10 days before the H1 start date.
