naani
Hi, I am on H1 B right now. As I had a baby recently, I am planning to convert to H4. I have H1 Visa Stamping till Sept. 2013. My question is, if I go to India on H4 this year (before my visa stamp expires), will I have to go for Visa stamping again as I will be on H4 then? Please reply me. Thanks! Link to comment
kalyan_ac
Yes you will need to get stamped to come back. Link to comment
goomail
Yes, you MUST get the H4 visa stamp if you intend to return to US on H4. If you plan to return to US on H1, visa stamping is NOT needed, your H1 petition and LCA should remain valid and unexpired. Link to comment
naani
Thanks for the replies. Ok, so if I convert to H4 and then H1, and go to India before my H1 visa stamp expires, I do not need to go for H1 stamping correct? Does it not matter if I change the employer..?? Link to comment

naani
Ok, so the H1 Visa stamping is valid only if we still work with the same employer until expires? Am I correct? Link to comment
kalyan_ac
Not necessarily you should go for stamping if you change your employers. But in your case, since you are moving from H1-H4-H1, its better to get stamped with the latest and current status. Link to comment
