H1 transfer from Company X to company Y

Hi,

I used to work for a Client A through company X, I had some issue with that company and left both Client A and COmpany X . Company X was holding my H1 VIsa... I found a new client and and new Company Y. Company Y filed my H1 transfer in Dec(beginning) ...I have the reciept number .. can I work for the current company(Y)? without having the H1 transfer completely(In review). ?

Yes, you can under AC-21 portability. I'm assuming that you were in valid status (i.e. getting paid regularly) when Y filed for change of employer.

Thanks for the info.. Yes I was paid regularly there is not gap in the payroll. What if my previouse employer cancelled my H1?

If your old employer cancels h1 and worst case your petition with new employer is denied, you will be out of status on day of denial
