i-129 intended dates of employment

Hi,

I recently got 1 year of H1B extn , can you please experts let me know what realy the below thing is:

My employer claims that he applied for 3 years in I-129 and submitted to USCIS, even thought he requested for 3 years, I-797 was approved for 1 Year.

When asked in to deatils, my Employer is saying that." we applied for 3 years and submitted the I-129, and we got ONLY 1-797 , I-129 was not returned back , from USCIS. So considering the new I-797 , lawyer created a new I-129 with 1 year as "dates of intended employment"

and asking me to carry the same with me for stamping....

Should i believe in this? please let me know....i wish Emp -Emp relation shoud be trustoworthy,,,,,which im suspecting here...
