H1B Extension, after applying for I-485/EAD.

Hi everyone,

My current H1B (6 years) expires in Feb 2012 and my employer is in the process of applying for extension. Possibly they will be doing that in January.

Anyways recently my priority is current and we applied for I-485 in December.

I am little worried about my H1B extension because of not having the proper client letter. Looks like Client does not provide employment verification letters as per the recent changes in their standards and their policy (Didn't needed a letter 3 years back for Renewal). We do have the verification latter from the Vendor company. So I was wondering what options I would have if the H1B renewal has any issues.

Now that I have applied for 485 and also EAD, I could be possibly getting the EAD in the next couple of months. If there are issue with H1B could I start working on my EAD? And would there be any complications with not having H1B and 485 being pending (not knowing how the 485 approval turns out)?

Appreciate any insight into this matter or if from any past experiences.

Your H1b is a back up if something goes wrong with 485 process.You can use EAD only till USCIS does not make any decision on 485. If decision is not in your favor, EAD is also not useful anymore.
