H1B Extension filed; I94 expiring

My company has filed for H1 extension and USCIS shows that the application was received on Sep 13, 2011. My I94 is expiring on Dec 24, 2011 and I have not received my extension approval from USCIS yet. Online status shows "Initial Review". Its been more than 90 days since the extension was filed.

My concerns are:

1. If I stay in US after Dec 24th even after my application has been filed and is pending, will I be considered out of status?

2. Will I accrue any unlawful presence by staying here after I94 is expired?

3. Will this affect my Green card processing in future? I have my I140 approved and priority date as Nov, 2010

Any suggestions on what I should do? Please advise.
