On two payrolls at the same time after H1B transferred

Hi,

I used to work for a Tech giant and was recently put under work force reduction (laid off kinda) but was given an offer for internal direct assignment into another team. I rejected this offer (becoming ineligible for severance from the old company) and I joined another company and did H1B premium transfer.

Its been 15 days since I left my old job and joined the current job. But still received the paycheck for this 15 day period from the old company. I contacted the payroll as I didn't want to repent for this in future. But I was annoyed when I heard back from the payroll that I am on the records as a current employee. Also, my manager now says that as per HR records, I will be in the payroll for two more weeks and so I will get another paycheck.

I don't know exactly as to whom to blame, but I am currently worried more about being on two payrolls at the same time. The new company already got my H1B transfer approval (premium processing) a week ago.

Can anyone let me know as to how to go about this issue?
