Applying Green Card for Spouse who is on B1/B2 (Visitor Visa)

Hello,

I am applying GC for my wife who is in the US on a visitor visa (B1/B2), we got married here in the US about a month back. Her 6-month stay period expires in April 2012.

If her GC is not approved by then is she legally allowed to continue living in the US while her GC petition is being processed?
