My mom is a GC holder and the last time she entered the country they wrote

6 mnths out

I407 advised, 240

LPR responsibility advised

on the passport.

Has anyone else have this happen to them. She left again to India after an 8 mnth stay, what does it mean for her when she comes back to US.

It means she will lose her GC if she continues to stay away for long times. You should talk to a Lawyer. Maybe she can give the GC up and get a torist visa instead.

It means that the officer thinks she may have abandoned her GC.

As a Permanent Resident, she has to actually live in the US. It is called "Permanent Residence" for a reason.

All trips abroad have to be temporary in nature.

It is NOT and has NEVER been enough to live abroad and just come to the US once in a while.

If she doesn't want to live in the US, she should give up the GC, with form I-407.
