Can I file my GC before 6 months when my H1b expires...?

Hi Guys,

Kindly help me. Here I provide my details.

-My H1B was sanctioned on 2005 Batch.

-But I came to USA in 6-November-2006.

-Then got H1B renewal at 2008.

- Now my H1B expires on 30-September-2011.

- I did not go to India in these periods.

- If I do transfer to a new Employer, I can get 1 more year extension through Premium process.

- If it is the case after getting extension, is it possible to File my GC...? What is the probability...?

Some friends saying GC should be filed 1 and 1/2 years before expiring of H1B.

Let me guide.
