If AOS not filed when PD current, will I loose spot?

Hello all,

My PD (June 2013) may be current in April 2022. I have approved I-140 from previous employer. I have not started GC process with current employer. If I start the GC process with my current employer, by the time I-140 is approved and when I am ready to apply for AOS, it may be around August 2023. At that time the current priority date could be way past my priority date (lets say Nov 2014). My question is, when I apply for AOS in say August 2023, will my application be given priority since my priority date was current a while ago OR, will my application be put behind people who's priority date became current after mine? 

Also I am figuring out if I should start process with my current employer or should I go back to my previous employer with whom I have approved I-140. Any suggestions?
