H4and H4-EAD right time to apply

Hi,

 

I am on H1B and my wife is on F1 visa. If I apply for H4 and H4-EAD at the same time for my wife.

1. will we get the H4 and H4-EAD at the same time..?

2. we will get H4 first and then H4-EAD next . If so, what would be the time gap..?

3. Can we work on the receipt number for H4-EAD...?

4. Right now my wife is working on F1 status and when we get the H4 approved, can we wait and apply for change in status after March for giving a fair shot for H1B...?

 

Any suggestions related to this is much appreciated.

Q1 & 2. The H4 is processed first and when it is approved, then work on the EAD application starts. The timeline is impossible to predict with USCIS but try seeing approximate times on ********.com

Q3. H4's are not allowed to work with pending EAD application...they must have physical card in hand to work

Q4. Hard to answer this question since H1 lottery etc is impossible to predict
