EB2 to EB3 Downgrade on I140 Successor in Interest Process

I have my priority date in 2015 and hence I am planning to downgrade my I140 EB2 to EB3 Category.

In my situation, the EB2 I140 is with my earlier company which is later acquired by my current company. 

So can you please suggest if the correct way to downgrade the EB2 to EB3 is to file a I140 amendment to show the new company name to the original 140 and ask for EB3? Or a File a new EB3 ?

And If a I140 is amended to downgrade to EB3 , Can i use my Approved EB2 if Dates become current in EB2 category ?
