sairam5027
Hi All, Hope everyone is doing good in these unfortunate times. I have a friend who is in his 6th year of H1b. His 6 years will complete by Nov 27, 2021. He got his I140 approved from his previous employer couple of years back. With his new employer he did not start his GreenCard Processing yet. Now my question is , when he files for his extension in a month or two will he get extension for another 3 years (he is currenty FTE with a fortune 500 company)? or will he get his extension for the remaining duration of his 6 years of H1b status? Is it enough to have an Alien number? or does he need to be aligned with his green card processing with his current employer too? Please share your wisdom. Thank you. Quote Link to comment
Zodiac System
Your friend should be able to get his three year extension based on his I140 approved from his previous employer. Quote Link to comment
pontevecchio
Based on his approved I-140 with any employer, he is eligible for 3-year H1 extensions beyond the initial total of 6. Quote Link to comment
