Hi, 

I am currently on H4 visa in the US and enrolled as a full time student. I am planning to apply a COS in the next few days to move to F1. My current H4 status expires in Feb 2020. Since the current processing times for COS are pretty long, I don't think my F1 would be approved before my H4 expires. In this situation, do I need to maintain my H4 status (i.e. file a H4 extension) until my COS for F1 gets approved? Please advise.
