H1B Extension after I140 approval

Recommended Posts

I have been working for the same employer for 5 years. Recently I got my I140 approved after a RFE (There wasn't a space in my last name on my master's degree and had to submit a revised diploma). As my H1B visa is about to expire in Nov 2020 (completing 6 years of H1B), my legal team is getting ready to apply for H1B visa extension. Very recently my para legal changed and new legal representative mentioned that currently it is risky (because of a possible RFE) to go through premium processing and suggesting regular processing. I don't trust this suggestion as it contradicts my prior experience with premium processing. Has some thing changed? Should I request my employer for premium processing or pay for myself if they don't agree? I think RFE is a possibility with both premium or regular processing and prefer a quicker response with premium processing. Kindly suggest if my thinking is wrong
