Sarombnr Posted September 7, 2020 Report Share Posted September 7, 2020 My mom is here on B2 visa since May 2019. Her B2 extension was approved till April 08, 2020. However, due to pandemic flight was cancelled multiple times in March and August 2020. In the meantime, her passport (April 2020) and Visa (August 2020) got expired. Upon reaching out to Indian consulate they denied to provide a short term passport and instead approved a emergency certificate. As there was no valid passport, couldnt apply for second B2 extension. Now, I got to know that we can apply for B2 extension (I-539) even with an expired passport and Visa. As she already overstayed here since April 2020, would it create any problems and Is it advisable to apply now (or) should her just use Emergency Certificate to leave US. Will it cause any issues to the sponsorer Appreciate any quick responses in this regard Quote Link to comment
