Working on multiple H1Bs at the same time.

Recommended Posts

Context:

I am on H1B. I received an offer from a different company and H1B transfer is approved. I set a new start date for the company. However my current company asked to stay for a week to do knowledge transfer. Since I work from home, I will be work for both companies for one week. Will it cause any problems. If any questions come later from USCIS regarding date overlaps (for one week) between two consecutive employers, can I justify saying that its just for helping transition and its only for one week.

PS: I heard from some credible sources that its legal. But please help clarify.

As long as you have approved H1 petitions with both companies, you can certainly work for both at the same time and get paid. Once you leave the initial company, they are legally obliged to revoke their H1 petition and this means nothing to you
