Ananya A
Hello, I would like to make an inquiry about the change of non-immigrant visa status while residing in the USA. I am a citizen of India. I am in the USA on an F1 student visa. I have done 2 years of university here. I am transferring universities to a university in Canada. If I transfer out of my university in the States now, I won’t be allowed to stay more than 2 weeks after it has been processed. I am unable to travel to Canada right now because of COVID-19 restrictions. Furthermore, my family resides in Kuwait but I do not have residency there anymore and am not able to go back since I cannot get a visit visa because of COVID-19. I am planning on doing online classes from my university in Canada while staying in the USA until the government of Canada amends their rules so that I can travel there. I am thinking of changing my visa status from F1 to B2 tourist visa just so I can stay here for a few months until Canada changes their rules. I called USCIS to ask if I am allowed to this and they said that I can do it while residing in the USA, but I am unsure about if I can apply because I was suggested not to do this by a few people who attempted to do it before. Please let me know if you have any suggestions about my situation. Thank you. Quote Link to comment
