satget
Hello, I was laidoff due to covid-19 and looking for new opportunities. I am in 60 days grace period now and the job market is not very responsive. My i94 will be expire on 18AUG 2020 and I already have B1/B2 Visa. I need to know if I could stay after grace period and still need to apply for COS? Thank you! Quote Link to comment
gopalakrishnach
I maybe wrong but I feel you cannot have 2 type of visas/status at same time. I feel you need to apply for COS to B1/B2. Quote Link to comment
User099
If your current status is H1 then you will need to file for a COS to B2 to remian here after the 60 day grace period. Quote Link to comment
cap-gap
It’s your latest I94 that matters, not visa stamp.. Quote Link to comment

I feel you need to apply for COS to B1/B2. People can have multiple visas. A visa is an entry document. A person uses one visa to enter I to a particular status associated with the visa used. I used to have valid B2 and H1 visas in my passport. I presented the H1 visa to enter into H1 status. In the US the visa is irrelevant. The status as listed on the I-94 matters. Only one I-94 (the latest one) is valid, so a person can only ever have one status. Edited May 14, 2020 by JoeF Quote Link to comment
