employment authorization with the same employer, subject to the same terms and conditions of the prior approval, is automatically extended for up to 240 days after I-94 expiration when an extension of stay request is filed on time.

Hi,

Not sure of the circumstances under which you have resigned.  If you are currently in the U.S., in general, there is a 60 day grace period during which time one is considered to remain in status and another employer may file a H1B visa or the applicant may change status to another category.
